The site is currently a ‘greenfield’ site and is in the process of reapplication for planning permission. In the event that planning permission is granted for Brackaghlislea sandpit the operator shall work the quarry as a series of excavation lifts by working each quarry face directly with a 360 excavator.

Quarried material shall be transported to an on-site processing plant where it shall be screened to produce a range of aggregates. All extracted materials (excluding striped soils) are to be sold. Striped soils shall be temporarily stored shall be used to restore the quarry faces during the life of a quarry. As these tipping (restoration) areas are within the excavation void they are deemed Extractive “Waste Areas”.

Within the processing area shall be multiple stockpiles, comprising screened sand and gravel products of varying specifications.

The extraction of material is proposed to employ two full time persons for an approximate 8-10 years. Excavations are proposed to be carried out between the hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Materials will be removed by HGVs during active working hours. The site will have on site welfare facilities and a wheel wash bay to reduce the environmental impact to the existing road.

After the extraction process is complete the land will be restored for Agricultural use.
